The SI channel has a less pronounced zig-zag pathway than the GB pathway, but SI travels from manus to head instead of head to pes, like the GB channel. Unlike the GB line, which courses directly over the organ for which it's named, the SI pathway has no arguable relationship to the small intestine organ.  Neither does the LI or TH channel.  This is why, as medical acupuncturists based on solid scientific foundations, we are tempted to resolve inconsistencies and inaccuracies within acupuncture nomenclature and mechanistic assertions.  Doing so, however, would necessitate renaming all the points and channels, falling out of correspondence with the World Health Organization's acupuncture nomenclature standards.  Furthermore, it would impede communication between acupuncturists of various disciplines, and require a complex naming system that, in itself, would be cumbersome and impossibly complex.  So, instead, we can enjoy the SI line for what it is - an interconnecting system of points that pertain to a specific myofascial "train" or strain, heading from where ground forces strike the paw and conceivably find themselves affecting cervical and craniofacial function and state of ease.

Note: These MiniCourses also appear in the Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians course.  If you are a MAV Grad, feel free to take this course as a refresher.
